Phil has proven to be a very driven and determined individual both on, and off the track. At the ripe young age of 17,

De La O already holds much success under his belt.


Phil started his kart racing journey at the age of 8 and over the years has developed a profound love for the sport, which only continues to grow. With his constant desire to improve with each and every race; you can rest assured that when you see #377 at the starting grid, you're looking at a main contender for victory.


When the helmet comes off, Phil Jr. enjoys doing what most teenagers do; spending time with his friends. Some of his favorite pass times include playing basketball, soccer, dirt biking and swimming. Balancing a busy racing life, alongside schooling and personal life can be challenging for anyone, but Phil Jr. manages to maintain high academic honors and still remains a part of the A/B Honor Roll at his high school.

Phil’s commitment –  

The following is an overview of Phil De La O driving, and personal skills since I met him, and have been working with him the last 2 years.  

Phil has been gifted with unbelievable driving talent, and skill sets. He has a natural ability that you rarely see. Most racers learn these skills from repletion, and practice.

Phil is able to dissect, analyze, and learn tracks in a very short amount of time. This gives him a distinct advantage over his piers, and competition in negotiating tracks. He also has the uncanny ability to give his crew feedback.  

Phil’s driving ability is exceptional for his age.  He is likes speed, and although he has respect for greater power, and speed, he is not intimidated. When presented with a higher classification in power, or the next level of classification. He quickly adapts. At a young age, I have noticed that Phil is very aware of his surroundings.  Most young racers are able to drive, and be competitive.  However, Phil has the ability and presence to be able to give feedback, and make tuning adjustments while he is driving. This is a telltale sign of comfort with his surroundings, track, and instruments.  The fact that he can negotiate the course, make driving decisions in a split second, and get out of the kart and offer insight to the kart set-up is incredibly mature for a driver of his age, and is a virtue which plays large role of being successful in any racing venue.  

Phil’s progress on the track is at an unbelievable accelerated rate. He is competing with drivers whom have been racing longer at a National level, and he is generating superior results.  This is due to his ability to quickly adapt, process, focus, and his intense internal desire.

In summary, I am personally impressed with Phil’s overall skills, maturity, his commitment, and communication.  He has demonstrated time and time again that he is a competitor.  He gives 110% from practice, racing heats, and features.  I would consider Phil as a very special young man whom has a very bright future in racing.  His focus and natural ability give him the ingredients to do anything in racing at any level of competition.
